Khalil Fong

courtesy official site

Khalil Fong (方大同) is a Hong Kong R&B artist, but all of his work is in Mandarin. His third album, titled Wonderland, will be released in just a couple days. Each of his songs is soulful, with a touch of his perfect English in some. His most successful song is Love Love Love from a previous album. [Watch here]

How to find music using Google

EDIT: This method is becoming more difficult to use, as now search results don't even appear anymore (for Multiply). Looks like we'll have to resort to another alternative.

Opposed to what we believed before, Multiply STILL works. But I've decided to make a tutorial for anyone else who doesn't know about using Multiply, a social networking site similar to Myspace, to find music.

Using the search engine Google, type in keywords of the song/album you want to find. Quotations around grouped keywords (ex. "the fray" rather than the fray) retrieves more helpful, specific results to your liking. ALWAYS end with site:multiply.com/music. This code allows you to search the songs you want using only sites with that specific URL. You can experiment and try sites other than Multiply; other popular alternatives include mediafire.com, zshare.net, and megaupload.com.

** If you are using Multiply, continue with this step. Otherwise, ignore the rest of this tutorial, and click any appropriate link that has your song. **

DON'T click any results. Multiply apparently makes it so that going to the site directly from Google (or maybe other places, but I wouldn't know) makes the page "not found." Instead, find the URL of the site, in green and copy (CTRL+C) it. In this example, we'll use the second link.

Then paste (CTRL+V) it into your browser... yes, simple, now hit enter to go to it. Usually the site excludes the specific entry that contains the song (the /item/96 part in this example), which makes it a bit more difficult to find your song if the user has pages and pages of uploaded music.

Find the entry that has the song(s) you want, using find (CTRL+F) to find it even faster. If it takes too long to locate it, go back to the search results and click the light purplish "Cached" link next to the green URL. This link allows you to see a version of the website that Google has temporarily and creepily saved. It shows you the song highlighted within the website, so that you can go search for the entry under that particular date/entry.

When you find it, the layout generally looks like the above. Song title in the left column, album title in the next, then artist name, and finally the Download link. You DO need an account to be able to download anything in Multiply, so go and register, it's free and it's definitely worth it.

Enjoy and share this simple method with your friends using this link:

Lifehouse's newest album Who We Are, which was released this summer, drew me in without surprise. My favorites from that album include "Whatever It Takes" and "Easier To Be."

They wrote a song and released it on iTunes last month for Allstate's Teen Driving Program. I really like it! The lyrics are friggin emo. Here it is...

Gary Cao Ge

courtesy wikipedia

I'd say Gary Cao (Cao Ge, 曹格), a Malaysian singer/composer, is comparable to David Tao, Wang Lee Hom, Nicky Lee, Tank, etc. He's fluent in English, too. I don't know his best songs since I just discovered him, but I'll post what I have. He's releasing his third album on January 4, 2008.

The first song below is from 格格 Blue (2006), and the second song is from his second album, Superman (2006).

This is one of John Mayer's most recent material. This guy always has something nice to listen to. This particular song is just okay though, the chorus repeats way too much.

Jack Johnson is releasing his new album Sleep Through The Static in February 2008. Can't wait to hear what new stuff he's recorded. Some people might not like this song but it's grown onto me.

welcome

to the Vending Machine.

"Vending Machine" was an alias i gave to myself after Christina (Laggy) continually requested songs from me and to which i always successfully found.

"Poundy" was a nickname given to me by Laggy based on the OTHER nickname she gave me, LB (Laughing Boy).

yeah. confusing.
