Preview: Step Up 2 OST

courtesy IMDB

The upcoming movie release Step Up 2 the Streets, with a new roster of different characters, is the sequel to the dance movie Step Up. The OST for the first movie was compiled by various talented artists and songs that did a great job accomodating the wonderful choreographed hip hop moves. The all-star song list of the next OST looks to be promising as well, so take a listen! The songs are in no particular order, and it's missing three songs.

Flo-Rida - Elevator (feat. Timbaland)

Nope, no picture. I must be getting lazy hahah.

Rapper Flo-Rida's first single "Low" made him an instant hit. Now, from listening to his new single (featuring the incredibly talented producer Timbaland), I'd have to say his fanbase will continue to grow. The repetition of "ele" from "elevator" in the song reminds me of Rihanna's "Umbrella."

Deep Side - Booty Music

courtesy deepsidemusic.com

Deep Side is a R&B and hip-hop band whose fun, upbeat single "What I Need" gained much popularity when it first was released last year. They also had the underrated song "Lovely" from the movie Step Up. Check out their next single "Booty Music," which will no doubt recapture the curious ears of R&B junkies, especially since it was produced by T-Pain.

We Shot The Moon - Sway Your Head

courtesy official site

I attended a free concert on campus tonight, and it included indie bands The Envy Corps, We Shot The Moon, and Dave Elkins (of Mae).

We Shot The Moon consists of Jonathan Jones (of the now disbanded Waking Ashland) as well as Dan Koch and Joe Greenetz from Sherwood. Calmly melodic and obviously reminiscent from their previous work, the band generously connects meaningful lyrics with appealing melodies... but, I'm a bit biased because I like piano/pop/acoustic rock more than I do alternative. I'm usually not immersed in an indie rock phase for too long since a lot of it sounds the same (no offense).

Jordin Sparks

Because I haven't posted any songs by female artists yet...

courtesy official site

Jordin Sparks was the promising and youngest winner to grace American Idol in its sixth season, with her singles "Tattoo" and "No Air" featuring Chris Brown becoming instant hits. At only 18 years old, her strong, confident voice introduces a vibe of fresh talent deserving of more than one listen and reminds us why the nation crowned her as the winner this time around.

Some of her music is a bit too pop-ish for me though, so I'm not really used to it...
